Richard is a highly experienced digital entrepreneur and retail professional, possessing a blend of blue-chip corporate credentials allied to a proven entrepreneurial focus and drive for results.
Richard started his professional career at J Sainsbury and quickly rose through the commercial ranks to ultimately head up the £700m soft drink category, leading commercial negotiations with the major global brands. During his time at Sainsburys, Richard was also seconded to Shaws Supermarkets, in New England, following the acquisition of Star Market and was charged with maintaining trading performance during and following the period of integration.
Richard was approached by GlaxoSmithKline while at Sainsburys and took up the position of Trading Director – Nutritional Healthcare, running a large team and being accountable for the sales of Ribena, Lucozade and Horlicks to UK supermarkets.
In 2002, Richard co-founded of his first entrepreneurial venture, Nutrinnovator, alongside two fellow GSK Directors. Nutrinnovator was a unique combination of taste and nutrition in the snacking category and, in his role as Commercial Director, Richard successfully achieved national product distribution within in both the multiple and independent sectors.
After Nutrinnovator, Richard followed one of his key passions to create the personal and professional coaching business, Thrive Coaching. Richard continues to coach a small number of clients annually alongside his responsibilities at Venturing Unlimited.
Immediately prior to Venturing Unlimited, Richard co-founded the award-winning digital content delivery platform, Zebtab, securing high profile content and advertising partnerships with the likes of Microsoft, Sky, Manchester United and Setanta Sports. Richard loves all things digital and is only truly happy when playing with latest gadget or online app.
